Firstly, thanks everyone for the kind notes on the Kinfolk dinner post - I couldn't have asked for a more photogenic space and subjects to shoot, so I certainly can't take full credit! Now back to regularly scheduled programming... (i.e., film shots from New Orleans!)
Merchant is a very cool modern space in the Central Business District of New Orleans. I was a huge fan of the red accents and mix of rustic wood pieces with sleek white chairs.
We kinda took over this communal table with all our bags and food. I regretted not getting a sweet crepe - I went with a savory pancetta and think I would have preferred good ol' nutella and fruit. Illy coffee is obviously no Stumptown or Blue Bottle but as snob as I am about coffee, I will enjoy whatever is available to me.

Kinfolk dinner series | brooklyn
A beautiful candlelit dinner at The Green Building last night...
I left feeling inspired and motivated to produce better work and have higher ambitions. I sat next to the lovely Saer from Craven Maven and the multi-talented William Hereford. Grace Bonney was a few chairs down and I regret not saying hi, but I didn't know if I'd have anything intelligible to say without sounding like a gushing fan girl. Leo Patrone (whose wedding work I LOVE) was there doing his thing with his Contax(es). Can't wait to see those film shots. It was also fantastic to meet Nathan, Amanda and Cree, and etc.! I hope our paths will cross again in the near future. :)

One frame
I received my New Orleans film scans! Hooray. They're a bit all over the place, so I will work on some more organized posts for next week. For now, one frame from the Minolta. We got a bit unlucky with the weather. Not only was it quite cold (after we left, the days were in the 70s dammit) but it rained quite a bit for a whole day. We passed by a cool large vintage mirror so I paused for this (haha, J looks so sad!). I didn't even NOTICE the giraffe (?) thing when I took this picture. Well, nothing is too crazy for the streets of New Orleans.
On Sunday, I'll be attending the Kinfolk dinner in Brooklyn. Very much looking forward to meeting some of the Kinfolk crew. Obviously I will be armed with camera.

Coffee with nicole
Took advantage of the gorgeous day to check out the new Blue Bottle in Chelsea. Nicole was around so we met up for a bit. The decor is very minimalist and the space downstairs is pretty tiny. What's really exciting is the upstairs siphon bar/nel drip station. Very serious stuff up there. I do want to return for that - what's crazy is that I already have both a siphon and nel drip at home so maybe I should set up a little brewing bar myself. :P
We were steps away from the High Line so I grabbed these portraits up there. I love the different colors of hair in her braid.

Brooklyn art library
On the same day exploring Brooklyn with Joel, he showed me this neat space in Williamsburg - the Brooklyn Art Library, which houses the brilliant Sketchbook Project. The shelves here are stocked with sketchbooks from all sorts of artists from all around the world. Besides that, there are just a ton of cool finds, art supplies, and paper goods.
We picked up this pretty hilarious illustrated book.

Emma & Angie
I had a really fun time shooting Emma and Angie's engagement session in their lovely neighborhood of Park Slope (I could kill to have a brownstone there!). Kudos to them for braving the NYC winter for this shoot. I shot a mix of digital and film (Fuji Pro 400H and Kodak Tri-X) here. I love that they brought their pup out for a few final shots. :)

Coffee and chocolate
A little roaming around Brooklyn today with Joel and J was just what I needed to get excited to shoot a few interiors and details. Below: Veronica People's Club - a quirky coffee shop/bar in Greenpoint.
We eventually wandered over to Williamsburg where I was hoping to check out the Mast Brothers Chocolate factory. Alas, it was closed but the retail shop was open. I'll never tire of their beautiful packaging.

A little escape
To the ever so inviting and charming Buvette...
... really takes you out of the city for a little bit.
Happy long weekend.
