#TodsAround

I recently photographed a project for Tod's, showcasing some iconic Gommino pieces, in particular, the Gommino loafer and the Gommino Mini bag. I chose a few classic NY spots to shoot in, as I was representing NY among the other worldwide photographers involved in this #TodsAround project. I also tried to keep the styling clean and simple to evoke a sense of that effortless Italian style.

Overcast

I wanted to shoot a personal swimwear edit while out in Montauk this past weekend, but I had a completely different "moodboard" in mind for it that involved harsh light, bright poppy colors, and lots of shadow play. At the mercy of the weather and tight timing, I had to completely rethink the feeling of the shoot and make do with what I was given. I ended up really loving the moody overcast beach and muted colors.

Balloon-sleeved

When I'm not wearing my shoot/work uniform of a white tee, jeans, and sneakers, I do like to have a little fun when I can. This top from JH Zane ticks all of the fun boxes. I had no business wearing a wool shirt on one of the hottest days of the year (it is a swamp in NY right now), but once I made the effort of putting it on (oh, and it's a real effort all right; you'll know when you see the back), I committed to it. And if you're a shorty like me and prefer the feel of rigid no-stretch denim, these jeans are a godsend. They're high-waisted too!

Sel Rrose

I'm not sure what took me so long to hit up Sel Rrose's oyster happy hour but an oyster hankering yesterday led me there (yes I realize it's not the proper season for oysters, but a craving is a craving). The wine list is also right up my alley and even if you're not an oyster fan, you can drink good affordable bubbly and munch on fries (that's all I really need in life). I'm sure my next visit won't be too long from now.

Public

A few weekends ago, I was a guest at the newly opened Public hotel on the Lower East Side. Being the photo geek that I am, I spent the majority of the time in the room observing the way the light moved through the room and re-taking the same photos when the light did change (I know, what a party animal right?). Overall, it's a beautifully done hotel with thoughtful amenities and branding, but what else would you expect from Ian Schrager. The most important discovery I made, though, was the chocolate chip cookie they serve at the food hall in the lobby. Seriously. Officially my favorite chocolate chip cookie in the city. Do not miss it if you happen to be in the area.
