Hell's Mouth

I have been a bit swamped with shoots and post-processing, but here's a very quick visual summary of a visit to Boca do Inferno during my 36 hour trip to Lisbon a few weeks ago. I had never been to Portugal before this and was really stunned by all of the beauty I encountered during that short time. A lot of people ask me how I can do these 36 hour or less trips since I practically spend more time traveling than I get to experience in the destination, but any chance I get to experience even just a little bit of a new place is worth it to me. It gives me a burst of inspiration and shows me what else is out there in the world.

Open Office

My friends at Everlane launched a series of events last week to celebrate their sparkly new office and showroom. I had the pleasure of leaving cold rainy NY behind to check it out in person. I've been so close to the brand since its beginning days that I am surely biased, but I really love everything they do and the effort they put into their social media channels. If you haven't seen their Snapchat, you're missing out on some good entertainment. And if you're familiar with the brand, you know that transparency is at the forefront of everything they do. Their office and showroom design reflect that openness and transparency. I'm not sure I would get any work done in that space, though, because I would be photographing everything possible in that late afternoon light.

Of course it's not just about aesthetics and good window light – there's got to be good substance behind all of that. I know from first hand experience that these folks work hard and have great ideas. I'm always excited and looking forward to seeing what they do next.

Having seen some of the newest pieces in person, I'm particularly into the relaxed poplin shirt in the blue/white stripe. I'm also looking forward to replacing my current modern point shoe, which I've completely worn down already – they're getting a restock of all the sizes that were previously sold out. And if you're like me and have trouble with the length of most shirts (petite problems), the square silk shirt is a great cropped length.

Tannersville, NY

I spent the past weekend in a charming part of NY known as Tannersville as a guest of the Deer Mountain Inn. When I wasn't drinking and huddling for warmth in front of a fire (though that was the majority of the weekend), I was stuffing my face at the local burger place, "hiking" in my poor Common Projects, trying on some crazy fur coats at the local vintage shops, and exploring the old Macy's family mansion (but, I'll save that for another post). Short hair, don't care

Well, that's not completely true. I did have a quiet minor freak out over how short my hair ended up after my haircut last week. I've basically had varying levels of short hair since January 2014 but only once did it come close to this short (circa April 2014 and I vowed never to do that again). My hair likes to naturally curl under when it's this short, forming a perfect bowl shape. Very attractive. To fight that, I use this hair straightener to fuss with the ends and give my hair some much needed texture. I then spray my roots with this volume powder, which I swear by. So it takes a bit of work now, but I can live with the length now.

I thought I'd experiment a bit more with layering, and though I don't see myself walking around with my sleeves half off my arm any time soon (though apparently that's kind of a thing now), it makes for some fun photos. Shown here is the Ganni Clark dress slung over a Cami NYC tank, slung over a lace bodysuit. My recent obsession with bodysuits will need to be saved for another post – too much to talk about there. Oh yeah, and then I threw it all over a pair of black pants.
