A few film images from our short Vermont trip - some from a nature trail we stumbled upon and most from Bromley Mountain, which (as you may have guessed) is normally a ski resort in the winter. These are all Portra 160 (my go-to film nowadays) and some converted to b/w. I was a bit disappointed with this set - I think largely due to the harsh sunlight I was shooting most of these in. I would try to wait for a bit of cloud cover but overall, it was just way too bright that day. I can only imagine what it'd be like shooting these scenes around sunset or golden hour... alas.
gah. gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love Vermont! We stayed at a cute B&B there.
ReplyDeleteThese pics are so lovely.
Eat Cake
So. Pretty. Wow!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great, secluded area for photos :) Only a photographer would say, "it's too sunny" with a sad face haha.

ReplyDeletethat tram! it's always been my dream to ride one.
ReplyDeleteand honestly, i wouldn't have been able to tell it was harsh lighting at all! VT looks so charming.
Beautiful photos! Reminds me of a little mountain I like to explore here in Australia. Although, it's not a ski resort in winter. Just a very cold/foggy place.
ReplyDeleteI could not resist and comment (mostly i just look through, read and joy. you do such a great blog!)
ReplyDeleteit's about your dissapointment, it's so familiar to me.
recently, when i shot with portra160 i could only guess and wishing i could find out by a set of experiments - wtf almost kills my shots - film, lense or the bloody sunlight which was almost like the shots were from sun? one topic from portra group on flickr gave an amazing decision - when you're doing camera settings, do them over 160 - i set on 200, some recommend 320 or even 400. tryed recently on a sunny day and a portrait shooting - amazing! all the shapes and colours are safe, the grain was so neat and a very flexible image, i mean it's very flexible for the postprocessing.
:)
thanks for the blog, Alice!
You are right Alice, the pics seem little overexposed. But the content of the pictures are just fabulous! :) will wait for the sunset golden pictures .! :)
ReplyDeleteI can only see the harsh lighting in 2 & 4 and they're still lovely. the rest are beautiful, too, especially number three, it's enchanting.
ReplyDeleteyour photos are still to die for!
ReplyDeletegorgeous, love the last two
ReplyDeletebeautiful! vermont is one of my favorite places...so peaceful and lovely :) xx.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because I live in the foothills of the rockies, but I have a definite weakness for vistas of rolling hills. You've made them look like ocean swells. Magical.

Harsh lighting or not, the photos are still beautiful. My favorite has to be the yellow buttercups.
ReplyDeleteI think they turned out great!
ReplyDeleteThat close up of the field with the dandelions is just magical ;)
