I suppose I can't get away with not even remotely thinking about resolutions for this year, so I thought of these off the top of my head (and I kinda wanted to fill the negative space of this picture, taken on the rooftop of last night's party space). Number one on the list is a biggie for me. I'm not sure if I can get past my natural inclination to do it, but I am convinced I'd be a lot happier if I could! The others are more petty but they are things I want to be doing anyway, so I might as well spell it out for myself.
Beautiful view of Long Island City here taken on the x100.
number one is a big one for me too. i like how you presented this, very nice!
ReplyDeleteI think that is something that all artists struggle with (I know I sure do). It's great to be inspired by other's work but when we turn that inspiration into competition and judge our work by it, negativity and depression usually follows. I'm working hard this year to let work inspire and fuel me, not crush me and make me feel untalented and unworthy.
ReplyDeleteYour work is an inspiration unto itself Alice!
Happy New 2012, Alice!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you needn't worry about others - there are no two people perfectly alike, or artists for that matter. I wish you a year full of enjoyment and sense of fulfillment by who you are, and of course, lots of creative inspiration. :)
As for reading a book each month, that's quite achievable. Reading is sexy, and there're so many good books out there, so little time.
I aim to start getting up before 8 am on weekdays too...but I haven't taken pregnancy insomnia into account. Yawn!
:D
Happy new year Alice. It's been wonderful visiting your space and I know it will only get better.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2012, Alice. Good luck with your resolutions, and have a great year. Pithy enough? ;)
ReplyDeleteEveryone else is inspiration, motivation and incentive. Cultivate and enjoy relations with your "competition."
Happy New Year !
ReplyDeleteLove your resolutions !
We have one in common : i set a goal of reading at least 12 books in 2012 !
Great shot! And great resolutions, too. I need to work on number one as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! Love all the colors! (:
ReplyDeleteWell done! I've been thinking about this too. I'm all for reading more books. Thoughts on a book club? :)
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot to include number 1 to my list.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Alice! Those are all really great resolutions. I can definitely follow some of those myself!
ReplyDeleteAll excellent resolutions! My resolution is to get to bed by 10pm everyday (or 9pm) so that I can get up by 6am without my alarm clock :) It's hard not to compare ourselves to others, because we've been doing that practically all of our lives (e.g. in school). But you're a smart gal and know very well that no two people define their success the same way. I'm confident that you'll have no problems with your #1 resolution. I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be another wonderful year for you, Alice!
ReplyDeleteStunning night shot with the x100. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBreath-taking. Good luck with the resolutions!
ReplyDeleteah yes, that #1 is something that i always try to work on myself. a very good resolution indeed. happy new year!
ReplyDeleteA good friend of ours who's living in the UK now comes from Long Island. I've never been there but it's wonderful to see what it looks like. Happy New Year to you, Alice! Thank you for the wonderful tips you've given me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate them!
ReplyDeletesmall goals are just as important and ours sound like good ones. Hope you complete them all, Alice! :)
