You may be seeing some shorter, miscellaneous-shots that don't belong in a collage (like this one) posts in the next week, as I have a looming deadline at work that I'm racing to beat. Continuing from yesterday's post, I was glad to finally use my 85mm for real and grabbed these few scenes from a walk in the West Village, a neighborhood that never disappoints in providing eye-candy for my camera.
This last shot is from a late afternoon crawl of L'Occitane on Bleecker Street (edited to fix spelling error - shameful). I mean, good god that light! :D
Nice public baptism for the new baby!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the deadline.
i have that same lens, but it has been sitting in my closet for ... a year? not sure why i don't like it, but after seeing your images, i'm itching to get it out of the closet. your processing and composition are amazing! they have that beautiful film look (i don't think u need a film camera - hey, can u sell your contax 645 to me ;)
ReplyDeleteYou know what I think is interesting about these shots? Of course the new lens is FAB! but that's not it! You managed to get multiple shots without a single human in them... that's amazing considering you are in the city that never sleeps! two thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteSigh. I would love to walk through the West Village many many more times. What a magical place it is. Your new lens is definitely raising temptations!
ReplyDeletethat bokeh is outrageous! and the need for a new lens grows...
ReplyDeletealso, love that 3rd pic. so vintage.
You're right about it not being disappointing, I'm loving these shots!!
ReplyDeletethese are really nice.
ReplyDeletethey make me want to sit down at this table outside!
gorgeous, that last photo is awesome!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful. i heart the west village.
ReplyDeleteI love the 85mm f/1.8 much better than the 1.4. The f/1.4 is great, but I find it's slower to focus, drives me kind of crazy. I know most people turn their nose up at the f/1.8...but not me. I have mad love for the f/1.8.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the West Village. I miss the West Village. We're thinking of a Christmas 2011 visit this year. Will keep you in the loop.
Love the composition in the 1st shot .Adds that emptiness. And shot at L'Occitane really has great light.
ReplyDeleteCool set, the bench is love! ^)
ReplyDeleteWow. These amazing quiet, lonely shots in the middle of a bustling NYC neighborhood? Amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnd the L'Occitane store shot... love.
your photos are so wonderful. And your blog too. I like it.
ReplyDeleteVary beautiful place and photos!
