Misc. thoughts on flower upkeep

I have a love hate relationship with hydrangeas. I love them and their clean fresh beauty but can't seem to keep them alive. Even following explicit care instructions, I manage to be a cold-blooded hydrangea killer. :(

Mums, on the other hand, you'd have to probably TRY pretty hard to kill. Super low effort and they come in so many colors to suit a variety of moods!

I think this moment must have been the last few breaths my poor hydrangeas took.

  1. Don't feel bad, I struggle with Hydrangea's sometimes too. I've noticed that the older the plants get the better they seem to do though.

Sweet photo with the two delicate colors.

  2. Hello there -

That is such a lovely photograph.

Personally, I've never struggled so much with hydrangeas but perhaps its due to their utter abundance back home. I'm not quite sure if this is your aesthetic, but have you thought about enjoying them as dry flowers? It can look pretty during the colder months :)

  3. Yes, and I feel they shed so much. Or maybe that's because I keep killing them. :(

Personally, I can't wait for ranunculus to get back in season!

  7. Every time I think I've gotten better at flower upkeep, my freshest bouquet goes and wilts on me. I suppose it's good practice for motherhood ;)

  8. i LOVE hydrangeas! they were supposed to be the only flowers used for my wedding but i decided to spice things up a bit with more flowers. i'm glad i did because the florist said that hydrangeas wilt really fast.

and they did... my bouquet was shriveled by the end of the night :(
