A proper homecoming

Hello from the center of the universe again. It feels great to be back on city pavement! I'm dying to share Hawaii pictures but I'll have to put that on hold for a tad as I decide where to get my film developed and scanned and wait for results. Although I usually do my own scanning, there is just a) way too much this time and b) I'm hating the adjustments my scanner is making and want to see if a lab will get me better results.

In the meantime, it was so nice to be reunited with Abraço. We also popped by Dora to get some freshly roasted beans and ended up getting way more than we planned. Whoops. The home brewing collection is really getting out of control. I hope to do a comprehensive post on that in the near future.

It was a fun bonus to see the pictures I took a while ago on display in a coffee tray. :) A friend of Dora's owner bought these prints from me a while ago to make this gift. I love how it came out!

It's safe to say we've been extremely spoiled by our city dining experiences. After a number of so-so meals in Hawaii, we were looking forward to going to our local favorites. Earlier tonight, we skipped over to Hearth because damn, do they do fish well.

I ordered the striped bass almost more for its accompanying ingredients than the fish itself. The cherry tomatoes were divine. I could have easily eaten a pot of those.

Did I mention it's good to be back?

Aloha from kauai!

Gosh it is pretty here. Just about everywhere you look, there is something pretty magnificent about the scenery. I'm super out of the Internet loop these days, as reception is poor in most areas and I guess I'm supposed to be on "vacation" mode. I'm actually using Jimmy's phone as a wireless access point so I can poke my head in on here.

The hard part to get used to in Kauai is that so many attractions close down by like 3 or 4pm, and if a restaurant opens until 9pm, that's considered late. Unthinkable for us city folk!

Below are some iPhone snapshots run through the CrossProcess app.

One thing's for sure - a return trip is in order! That 11-mile Kalalau hiking trail is definitely on my bucket-list. :)

Aloha from maui!

Just wanted to pop in to say it is beautiful here (no surprise there) and I definitely look forward to sharing tons more pictures. The major problem is that my cameras aren't weather proof. The Contax got a mouthful of sand in her yesterday so definitely no more cameras on the beach. :(

Last night we went to an entertaining luau where we got to experience that crazy fire throwing action. This one young teen boy with a dslr was awestruck by the Contax. He asked me if he could take pictures of her and proceeded to take her from every angle possible. Haha. He couldn't stop exclaiming how "sick" and "badass" she was.

The Infinity Pool at the hotel is gorgeous. The pool blends into the ocean which blends into the sky. Sunsets are early here but pretty damn breathtaking. AND I saw a sky full of stars for the first time in ages.

Wedding festivities tonight. I will have to be on my best behavior and stay out of the photographer's way... hmmm.
