Weekend Outfits

We've had what feels like a pretty brutal winter and it's nowhere near over. 45 degrees may as well be tropical weather now. There's not much of interest to note in my winter wardrobe, as I've fallen into a uniform of black pants and cashmere sweaters. Here are some old and new pieces getting a good rotation.

On a warmer day: Tank / Pants / Shoes / Jacket (Old Club Monaco)
Ah now this is a color palette I can get behind.

Before the hair chop ;): Sweater / Pants / Shoes / Jacket
This coat is not exactly me, but it was too fun to pass up. Downside: it sheds more than my cat does.

Before I splattered red chili oil on this silk shirt: Shirt / Jeans / Scarf / Boots / Jacket (very old J.Crew)
I don't like the idea of getting "doubles" of something in my wardrobe, but these Dicker boots might just need a buddy so I don't completely wear the sole down every season; hands down, they are my most worn piece I've had in a long time.

The overall goal this year is to buy less and really focus on quality. I made a list of my closet additions from last year and was a bit horrified. This year, no more cheap, fast fashion that only lasts me one season.

  2. I love that furry blue coat too, but so sad it sheds! I'm with you on quality over quantity this year. No more Forever 21 or H&M for this girl!

  7. I'm majorly jealous of that 45 degree weather! It's been -20C for weeks here.

  8. Loving these outfits, Alice! That coat is so much fun and a pastel blue feels much more versatile than something more bright and intense. Hmm, I think I'd be wearing thick wool socks in 45 degree weather! Totally impressed that you can wear flats and booties and a little embarrassed that I'd probably freeze... oof.

  12. I've been doing the very same thing with my wardrobe. The things I buy on a whim I always end up hating or getting a hole in within a few months. No more of that!!

  13. The charity shop round the corner from my place LOVES me. Most of my fast fashion have been donated in near new condition. However, I bought a Zara coat for £25 and it's my most worn piece so far. I need to rein the impulse purchases in a bit. It got a bit out of hand last year.

  16. I vote for having the Dicker boots in two colours, I do! Love my Taupe and Anthracite pair as they are so easy to wear with everything, and so comfy! Love your blog! Have been following you on Instagram for ages, but must admit I haven't had the time to peruse blogs like I used to (before the little ones came along)... LOVE your work! xx

No more inexpensive, nonsense clothes this year for me, either. Quality not quantity!

  18. I really hear you on the quality thing. I have learnt from past mistakes. I always try to make key pieces in my wardrobe timeless and so have to make sure they are quality pieces to they last the test of time.

BTW I love your use of natural lighting in your photo.
