Hotel Okura

Stepping into the iconic Hotel Okura feels a bit like stepping back in time, to 1960s Tokyo that is. An absolute gem for the design-obsessed and diplomats alike, the hotel's main wing is set for demolition and reconstruction this summer (which has been met with much objection, of course). I'm so glad I had a chance on my February Tokyo trip to see the original design before construction started.

  1. The geometric detail on the windows just slays me. So beautiful. Can't wait to go back to Tokyo.

  2. Woah, it's amazing. I love how it is so modern, yet hasn't lost its distinct Japanese style.

  3. What a stunning space and it's a shame they don't see this space working anymore - I really like it and looks very tranquil. I imagine it will be all cream/gold/olive hues like the one in Macau - also very nice but very different to this 1960s design.
