The wild ways of poppies

Just a short one today. iPhone photos of poppies from a month ago. Their stems really have a mind of their own.

Zippers

Although I've been trying to incorporate more color and prints into my sea of neutral clothing, I just can't help but reach for the same safe pieces. I love the fit of this slinky moto jacket and the all the zippers. Here I've paired with flats for an easy day look and leopard pumps for a bit more oomph (and the height I desperately need!).

Astier de villatte

Just some iPhone photos from the beautiful Astier de Villatte boutique in Paris for today. Of course it is on the Rue Saint-Honoré, a street that J has dubbed "Rue de Nice Shops" (because it's an accurate description and because his French pronunciation ain't so hot ;).

P.S. Lingered Upon has been nominated for Best Photography in the Saveur Food Blog awards! Voting ends tomorrow, but if you get a chance, I would be very flattered and grateful if you voted for me. Thank you!

Dinner at Rebecca's

It was almost a year ago that Rebecca, the mastermind behind A Daily Something, planned and produced a beautiful and simple dinner party at her stunning 300-year-old, stone-walled Quaker farmhouse. And I had the pleasure of being there to shoot it. The house is amazing, as you can imagine from the description. We recently got the story published in Issue 7 of The Simple Things. I wanted to share some of the many outtakes that I dug up while going through my archives. I shot a mix of digital and film for this.

Can't you just feel the coziness of the space?
Take a little peek at the story below.

New Work / Cereal Magazine

It was a huge delight to shoot for the second volume of Rosa and Richard's beautiful magazine — Cereal. Jen and Omar, the duo behind These Are Things, were adorable and a pleasure to meet. Below are some outtakes and snippets from their interview. But really, you must see the magazine in person. The quality of printing and paper thickness is a paper nerd's dream.

At the Musée d'Orsay

Hope you guys don't mind I've still got Paris posts. Here's a Sunday afternoon spent at the Musée d'Orsay. I don't think photos are allowed in there, but... everyone was breaking the rules anyway!

Dumplings at Sunday Suppers

I've long admired Karen's Sunday Suppers space — it's a total photographer's dream; so it was a real treat to spend Monday evening there making dumplings with some really talented and inspiring ladies. We made dumplings with Binh and Pilar from Kickshaw Cookery, and I learned how surprisingly easy it could be to make fancy looking dumpling shapes. I have a bad habit of always wanting to add a ton of filling to my dumplings, but I'm working on it!

(Please pardon the quality of these iPhone photos. They do not do the space justice!)

After we got our hands dirty with dumpling making, we sat down to a beautiful spread of pickled vegetables, crazy addictive roasted peanuts, three differently-filled dumplings, and more vegetables. It was delicious and wholesome. I couldn't imagine a better way to spend a Monday evening.

Sweet Chick

Hello! There's been a bit of radio silence here, as I spent the last week in Chicago for work, had no electricity yesterday (damn my building management), and am now finding it a bit difficult to get back in the grind. I did want to share this shoot in collaboration with Amy at the new Sweet Chick in Williamsburg. (Clearly it was a rough day for us.)

Do yourself a favor and go, and don't miss the mac and cheese!
